The Vintage Twin Second Annual Trunk Show

Posted by Francesca Alfano On Friday, July 30, 2010 17 comments

I love vintage goods but often it is hard to dig through piles of clothing if you don't have the time or patience. So I don't frequently get the chance to shop through the picks of other girls selections in a beautifully decorated space. Wednesday, I attended the Vintage Twin's second annual trunk show and it turned out to be such a great event. The space was not what I expected at all. To my surprise, the show was held in a chic dimly-lit showroom, lined with brick walls and finished wooden floors. Racks of clothing were neatly set-up throughout, where customers were shopping to the tunes of NYC dj's The Chainsmokers, with a cocktail in hand. I was relieved to find colorful trays of hors d'oeuvres and desserts set-up on the oak tables because I was starving after work. I was impressed with the event- all in all it turned out to be a success.View my photos below.

J. Fur

J.Crew's newest fall arrivals have hit their site and while browsing I came across the Mongolian lamb tote and Mongolian lamb vest. Both are so furry, ultra plush, and cozy. They sort of resemble my Maltese puppy- Penelope, which makes me want to snuggle with these chic items.

The bag has been finished at a famed French mill and features leather, antiqued gold-plated curb chain handles, and lots of pockets. Both items will elevate your coolness - good job J.Crew!

Finally another Target collaboration has been announced! Justin Timberlake's line, William Rast, is the latest line to be available at Target stores and Target online, starting December 19th. The collection will include men's and woman's premium denim, outerwear, and sportswear. I am looking forward to this one!

Roaring Prints

From left clockwise: Mulberry, $ 2,700; Roberto Cavalli, $900; Topshop Dress, $65; Topshop Scarf, $32; Giuseppe Zanotti wedges, $ 1,430; Topshop skinny belt, $36

Leopard and cheetah prints have been showing up everywhere for the fall. I personally don't think they ever go out of style and can be very classy if worn right. For those who want to wear spots, try mixing in printed accessories to add instant sex appeal to any outfit. Don't overkill it though, it could turn out disastrous!

Alessandra Ambrosio by Will Davidson for Russh Magazine

Posted by Francesca Alfano On Thursday, July 22, 2010 15 comments

The always stunning Brazilian supermodel, Alessandra Ambrosio, is featured in this month’s Russh Magazine, photographed by Will Davidson. The spread captures her true beauty and talent as a muse in a way we normally don't view her. I think it is really refreshing to see her portrayed in this artistic shoot as oppose to her commercial catalogue spreads. The new issue of Russh goes on sale Wednesday July 28th.

Absolutely loving the “Pastel Kaleidoscope SS 10/11" lookbook for Roc eyewear, shot by Amanda Austin and illustrated by Kelly Smith. The unique kaleidoscope effect and watercolor patterns add a fresh element to the lookbook. The collaboration is beautiful- both are truly talented. View the complete lookbook after the jump.

A New Take on the Duck Boot by Tommy Hilfiger

Posted by Francesca Alfano On Monday, July 19, 2010 21 comments

I know its a little early to start posting boots and I really hate to think that summer will be over soon, but the newly designed duck boots by Tommy Hilfiger have really caught my eye. These boots are going to be hot for fall, as they seem to be popping up everywhere. The chic take on the classic L.L. Bean duck boot is perfect for those rainy days where you want to wear a heeled boot and switch it up from your rubber Hunters. The boots come in a blue or red knee high laced up version or an ankle boot, both feature a 5 inch wooden heel.

Eva Mendes for Allure Magazine

Posted by Francesca Alfano On Thursday, July 15, 2010 4 comments

Eva Mendes is this months cover girl for Allure magazine. She is so beautiful its hard not to obsess about her.

Read what the actress opened up about in her interview.

  • On her public image: "I don’t want ‘sexy’ to be my defining characteristic."
  • On her first job working retail at the mall: "I’ve worked since I was able to work."
  • On her self-image: "I’ve worked very hard to love myself, and I do. I think that’s what people may respond to with me."
  • On wearing the "wrong" clothes to the interview: "I never want to be that girl [who] can’t climb the mountain because she’s wearing the wrong shoes."
  • On what she finds sexy: "Either nude or very basic Calvin Klein underwear, and maybe a ribbed tank with no bra."

Pastel Shades

I haven't posted in a while but will start getting back into the swing of things -I swear!

Revlon will be launching a new collection of awesomely cute pastel shades from their new Suede collection. The collection is made up of four shades —aqua, buttery yellow, lilac, and beige. You can never underestimate the importance of a great nail color and at this price - $ 4 a bottle you will be able to rock these pretty shades for the price of your morning breakfast.  Personally I am a fan of the minty aqua color- super cute for the remaining summer days. The collection will be released in 2 weeks so be sure to check out your local drugstore.
