I absolutely love everything about this retro inspired editorial featured in Octobers issue of Vogue Turkey. The styling, the makeup, the hair, the models, even their eyebrows - uhh it's all perfect! Photographed by Cuneyt Akeroglu and styled by Ece Sukan, models Hilary Rhoda and Julia Stegner look stunning wearing mod designs in boastful colors by Miu Miu, Valentino, and Prada.
This controversial editorial featured in the 90th anniversary issue of French Vogue is causing quite a stir today. The "gluttony themed" spread, shot by Terry Richardson and starring plus-size ambassador Crystal Renn, show her feasting on pounds of spaghetti, chomping on rare meat, and gorging on some octopus. The editorial is getting tons of heat calling it disgusting, repulsive, and grotesque. Although, yes it is a little strange but upon viewing this for the first time these were not my initial thoughts. Kudos to Crystal for raising the bar and being photographed in the act that is considered taboo in the fashion industry - EATING! Crystal Renn has said a number of times that yes, she is a model and she does eat which is why she's not 90 pounds, I think its courageous to be photographed this way. Eating is delicious so why not indulge once in a while? What do you guys think?
I woke up this morning to the sound of heavy rain hitting the window pane and knew that today was going to be the dreadful morning where I would have to dig through my closet and pull out one of my sweaters. I'm not going to lie, I was a bit depressed - throwing on a chunky knit when it’s not even October yet! But I must say, sitting here cozied up in my long sweater, listening to the bustling streets of Manhattan and watching the raindrops trickle down the window; I realize for once in a very long time that I am actually comfortable. Plus, I’m also very proud for not complaining that I am too cold - which is a daily occurrence. If it was acceptable to wear a blanket or a Snuggy to work every day I probably would. So ladies, if you’re thinking of sitting at your desk wearing a Snuggy- consider the chunky sweater as a great alternative; it's fashionable, comfortable, and keeps you warm. I have complied a few great knits for the fall.
1. Cream Bobble Knit from Topshop; $ 170
2. Patchwork Plaid Cardi from Madewell; $ 125
3. Cashmere Rollneck by Theory; $ 576

5. Knited Cape from Zara; $ 79
6. Wool Sweatercoat from Anthropologie; $ 178

I have been on a no make-up kick lately so when I came across this editorial from Russh Magazine I had to post it. I find it very liberating leaving the house "au natuerl" and in my opinion a fresh face is the always the prettiest.

Artist Statement
"I have been taking photographs all my life and I am forever fascinated by the human form. I will never tire of photographing it, yet it remains a challenge. To capture the beauty, the essence of the woman within and to create a symbiotic relationship between the model and the lens — this is my passion, this is what continues to inspire me. ”
The exhibit will run from September 21st thru October 9th 2010.
